What is your name and position with Midphase? |

My name is Dan Ushman. I am one of the co-founders of midPhase and am currently the acting VP of Marketing. Basically, I help direct and plan our marketing efforts an strategies and oversee our affiliate programs and advertising campaigns.

midPhase was established in May of 2003 by Zak Boca and myself. We started with no money, just an idea of what we wanted to do. We invested into what we needed to.

I feel that midPhase is unique for a few reasons. Firstly, we are literally obsessed with customer service. I know it sounds very cliché, especially in our industry where everyone claims and few deliver, but we truly are obsessive. Employee raises and promotions are based largely on the quality of the customer service they are delivering to the clients they interact with.

What is the most challenging aspect to offering Budget Hosting? |
|
I would have to say that the most challenging aspect is maintaining a enterprise level of customer service while charging budget rates. Hosting customers are feeble. They are willing to change hosts, even over small mistakes.

What is it that makes Midphase a competitive company in the Budget Hosting market? |
|
Well, aside from the obvious packages sizes, and customer service obsession, I would say that midPhase is a company that values open communication with its clients. We have a number of portals and web sites online to help our customers stay informed. From our huge community at midPhase TALK, to midPhase NOC and midPhase Status, we try to do everything we can so our customers know exactly what is going on at mP. |
This is always a tough question. If I had to give one answer, I would say it is our obsession with customer service AND our transparency.

This is an even tougher question. I would like to see midPhase as an even more successful provider known for rock-solid stability and exceptional customer service… much like it is today ;-]

midPhase hosts nearly 90,000 domains for around 65,000 customers in over 140 countries.

Do you own your own datacenter? |
|
We do not own our own datacenter, HOWEVER, we do have multiple locations in Chicago where we lease collocation space. We always include room for desks and computers so we can have our engineers and system administrators on site at all times.

Where are your datacenters located? |
|
We currently have servers in three Chicago data centers, are hoping to launch our fourth location in the next 60 days. We currently are collocation customers of RCN Corporation, Equinix and Quest in Chicago, IL.

All of our facilities are N+1 or greater redundant with automated transfer switches, generators, and UPS backup solutions.
